The BIG Draw, '..ECHOES..' in The Old Parcels Office, Scarborough Railway Station
'Every picture tells a story' - Every person that ever walked into Scarborough's Victorian station left an echo. Gabrielle wanted to visually capture those echoes of Past, Present and Potential users of the space, while freeing up the fun, the expression and imaginations of the visitors. She shone spotlights onto the walls to project shadows, visitors took turns to cast shadows and draw around them. Moving slightly evolved the 'static animations' and that began to interact with each other. Gabrielle collaborated with Scarborough Musical Theatre and a local costumier to use historic and comical costumes. She also brought in with a 'Blues Fusion' dance improvisation specialist to work with participants movement, while other visitors could draw the dancing figures in movement. Around 200 visitors of all ages participated in a multitude of ways with smiling faces and a willingness to give everything a try!
